Dr Antonella Brunetti
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years experience both in the NHS & Private Practice.
I am also an ISST Certified (Advanced Level) Adult Individual Schema Therapist & Supervisor.
I specialise in providing psychological support for neurodivergent adults who may be struggling to cope with the neurotypical demands and pace of modern life.
If we work together…..
- our work will be structured, not just “chatting”,
- you will receive diagrams and summaries to help provide a ‘road map’ to your treatment,
- you will be supported with skills and resources to consolidate in-session work,
- I will flexibly adjust our approach to best meet your learning, sensory and executive functioning needs.
I draw from these effective therapy approaches:
- Compassion Focussed Therapy,
- Schema Therapy,
- Interpersonal-Neurobiology,
- Mindfulness,
- Attachment approaches.
The aim is always to help you understand yourself and how to calm and steady your unique nervous system.
Together, we will understand how self-limiting patterns of coping may have developed as an attempt to cope with the demands and complexities of living in a neurotypical world.
My neuro-affirming approach & ethos is to:
- work collaboratively and patiently to help you change these patterns and find ways to live that feel manageable, enjoyable and that honour your neurodivergent needs, interests and talents,
- value the different kinds of minds that create the neurodiversity on which our species relies,
- honour that everyone has an important contribution to make and the right to live authentically in a way that sustains good mental health.
My style of working is:
- warm and friendly
- clear thinking
- my jokes are sometimes corny!
On a personal level:
- I live in Hampshire,
- in a neurodivergent family,
- I have a (long suffering?) husband,
- and two almost adult children,
- animal companions,
- get my kicks from nature, bright colours and a good belly laugh!
- enjoy creative writing
